Mary Immaculate School of Valenzuela, Inc., which was named Mary Immaculate Learning Center was established through the effort and initiative of Mrs. Sonia R. Perez, whose organizational principle is based on the true measure of “Democracy” sometime during the year 1993.
She built a three-door apartment on their purchased 500 sq. meter lot on Dulong Tangke, Malinta, Valenzuela City, formerly a rice land. Thinking that if ever she will retire from her public post as an elementary grades teacher, she would be putting up a school.
She began it with the Nursery Level having 14 students only at the start at a very minimal fee which was under the umbrella of NFWC on its first year of existence.
It progressed to Kinder, then to complete Preschool level, till she decided to apply for complete Preschool Level at DepEd (formerly DECS) which was granted recognition on the year 1999.
As years went by, parents clamored and requested for the continuance of their children’s education in the Elementary, so she applied for Grades 1-3, then Grades 4-6, which was given Complete Government Recognition in the year 2001.
Inspired by the vision of providing good and quality education at a cost affordable to many, and through the ardent requests of the parents, she applied for Secondary Course, so that pupils upon their graduation from grade six can continue their schooling at now Mary Immaculate School of Valenzuela, Inc.
The Complete Secondary Course was given Government Recognition in 2010.
At present, her love and passion in molding and educating the youth still continues. The school was granted government subsidy through Education Voucher System (EVS) where the beneficiaries were in-coming Grade Seven students. The last batch of EVS grantees graduated on March 2014.
And in the year 2010-2011, the school applied for Government Assistance to Students in Private Education (now called Private Education Assistance Committee or PEAC) and was certified, granting Ten Thousand Pesos (Php 10,000.00) for all in-coming Grade Seven students from either private or public schools. This government subsidy was such a great help to the parents of the recipients and the school in particular.
The subsidy for students has already increased twice from Php 10,000 to Php 11,000, and now, was raised to Php 13,000.00 for all in-coming grade seven students till they reached grade 10. Not only the subsidy for students has increased, the same goes to all board passer teachers who are teaching the secondary levels, which started from Php 12,000.00 annually then currently, it is now Php 18,000.00 tax free.
It is indeed a great help not only for the school, but also to all the stakeholders as well (parents, students and teachers). And for that, the school is always grateful to PEAC for its continuous support to all the students who can’t afford to enroll in a private school.
Her perseverance, hard work and dedication to work made her to attain her dream of giving the students utmost concern in realizing their goals thus making them disciplined, productive, self-reliant, God-loving citizens in the national community.
